Courses
BIL 375: Darwinian Medicine
BIL 160: Evolution and Biodiversity
BIL 152: HHMI Research Lab: Genetic Engineering in Microbial Ecology and Evolution
BIL 160: Evolution and Biodiversity
BIL 152: HHMI Research Lab: Genetic Engineering in Microbial Ecology and Evolution
My BIL 152 course is a hands-on, inquiry-based lab course exposing Freshman right away to the scientific process. Students genetically engineer lab yeast and then perform experiments to test hypotheses that they develop independently in groups of 5-6 students.
In collaboration with Dr. Leslie Knecht in Chemistry, our students designed and built microfluidic devices (both on paper (!) and PDMS) to test hypotheses about their genetically engineered yeast strains.
Students in my BIL 152 course created online lab notebooks documenting their experiments. Please check out their websites below! Trust me, they are awesome!
